CHARACTER

character name: Canonically, she's Twilight Sparkle, of course; for our purposes, call her Lucia de Crespiculo Bolido
character title: The Scholarly Occultist
age: I will assume she is an adult, given her canon profession and duties; let's say 20.
gender: proudly she/her/hers.
species: Human enough.
strengths: Watchful and Dangerous, in that order. Her weakness is she's far from Persuasive.

canon history:
A unicorn and the most faithful student of the Princess Celestia (who was really more of a god-queen with solar magic - oh, and a winged unicorn), Twilight Sparkle was a scholarly academic wizard who locked her introverted self in an ivory tower and had no friends outside of her Number One Assistant, the dragon Spike. All that changed when she discovered a prophecy about the corrupted Princess of the Moon, Nightmare Moon, and when she sent her concerns to Celestia she sent back orders to 'stop reading those dusty old books, go out and make some friends.' This was actually the exact advice that Twilight needed to thwart Nightmare Moon, for correspondences are magic - particularly the connections between friends...

There's more to her story, of course, but I'm basing her personality largely on Season 1, Episode 1.

AU History:Still a student of magic, and in her case of the anthropological and sociological underpinnings thereof with a minor in Chemistry, at Benthic. Still has as her patron a lady who goes by Celestia, although in her case this is almost certainly an alias; were the constables to learn the Suncaller's real name, bombs would burst and blood would spill - such a waste, regrettable really - but the government of Fallen Londen and it's billy-clubs oppose the cause of seeing the sun again. Still a mage, or a would-be mage; she searches desperately for clues to the Correspondence. Still has Spike; a teenager who is both spiritual brother and servant to Lucia.

And still ordered to "Watch, and prepare, and make friends - not allies, not tools of convenience, but friends - that we may see the Sun again."

Lucia is not sure what to make of these orders from a so-called anarchist, but 'Celestia' has always guided her true before...

personality:
Lucia is a Scholarly Occultist.

She is scholarly, watchful, rational to a fault; a bit more serious in demeanor than the canon one. While her natural tendency is towards introversion and introspection - to the point where she has forgotten to take meals until Spike placed a plate of bread and butter in front of her - she loves to learn. She'll speak (and listen!) with great enthusiasm on the technical aspects of anything while asking relevant questions, and writing down the answers in her personal grimoire.

Like the original Twilight, she's prone to panic attacks - particuarly if she feels like she's going to make herself look unintelligent or disorganized in front of people she respects. She is compulsively organized and neat: she's a planner and a thinker. This doesn't mean she won't do things, but learning to leap even after looking was a challenge for her.

Lucia Crespuculo Bolido is a university-educated scholar, on scholarship to Benthic and with MORE than a little help from 'Celestia' and her allies. At this point, she's mostly gotten over her imposter syndrome... mostly. Her thinking is logically rigorous and rational, although her common sense suffers a little bit; she is happiest with puzzes she can quantify, deduce, or induce the solutions to.

Her majors are Magic - that is, the sociological, anthropological, and archeological underpinnings of magical theory and practice; and Chemistry, because she's done some alchemy work on her own, seeking to purify lead into gold and in the process, purify her own soul. The money would help, but even at this stage Lucia knows that's not the point and never was.

At this point, she's only really seeking friends because 'Celestia' told her to, grumbling all the while about how this is taking time away from her research into the Correspondence and the Philosopher's Stone. She is acerbic, sharp-tongued and sharp-witted, and brooks no tolerance for those she considers fools. Unfortunately this includes anyone with less education and more practical experience, at this point; Lucia is the kind of upper-class, wealthy individual who espouses socialist theory while being horribly classist at the same time.
